What is a PEP check?

A PEP (Politically Exposed Person) check identifies whether an individual holds, or has held, a prominent public function making them higher risk for bribery or corruption. PEP checks are part of enhanced due diligence under the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and are normally included under AML searches.
