Yes. Anyone aged 16 or over can apply for a Basic DBS check on themselves, which shows unspent convictions. As of January 2026, self-employed individuals and those working for private individuals can also apply for an Enhanced DBS check on themselves, provided the role is eligible. Standard and Enhanced checks cannot be requested directly by other individuals these must be initiated by an employer or organisation for a specific eligible role.
